What do you do when the baby is sleeping?

Such an innocent question...right?  :)  Anyway, Jarek asked so I decided to make a list just to see.  Turns out, making a list of what you do turns you into an overachiever.  I wiped myself out the other day and barely accomplished anything.  I was trying to be super mom and clean all the dishes, laundry, toilets, floors, etc.  Ends up I never got the chance to clean myself and there is nothing I hate more than a day without a shower.  I guess I better get over that or find a new way of doing things around here. I think I prefer taking nap time for coffee, meals, and showers as opposed to cleaning!  Anyway, the next day Grandma Paula came over.   I was able to grocery shop, clean the whole stinking house, and make three meals for the freezer!  It is amazing what an extra pair of hands and baby taking a 3 hour nap can do.  Thank you to Paula for the babysitting, vaccuuming, dusting, laundry, and everything else in between!

FYI- Max does not like taking his naps!  Poor mommy!  Here are some pics from the other morning when he was well rested.  Do all moms do crazy photo shoots?  I probably took 20 pictures of him and settled for these two as the best.  I don't know how photographers do it.  It is very challenging to get a good shot if you ask me!

Notice the burp cloth rolled up as a neck prop.

This was the last photo.  Can't you just read his mind?  "Are you always this crazy, Mom?"

Happy Tuesday!

Max weighed 8 lbs and 3oz at the doctor.  He is in the tenth percentile for weight.  The doctor says this is totally fine.  It doesn't sound as good as the 90th percentile, but it isn't the ISTEP, so who cares?  His daddy was a small guy, too.  He is 21 and 3/4 inches long.  This is the fiftieth percentile.  He definitely feels heavier when we pick him up.  His 0-3 month outfits are fitting better.  It is time to get a container for his newborn clothes to save for his brother.  :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

My Youngest Valentine
Max is wearing his Valentine's gift from Nana today.  Well, at least he was for about 30 minutes until he wet outside of his diaper!  Thank goodness he received multiple onesies for the special day!  I think daddy was secretly pleased that he wasn't able to wear this all day long.  Jealousy has reared it's ugly head in our home.  It looks like I need to be purchasing a special daddy outfit sometime soon.

My baby can...

eat!
grunt!
pee!
lift his head!
smile!  :)))))
eat!
stare!
kick!
poop!
snore!  (just like his daddy)
eat!
sleep in his crib!
walk!
cry!

Only one of the above listed is not true.  Can you guess which is a lie?  ;)

Max turned one month old yesterday.  I am shocked how fast the time has flown by.  I had to stop and think about how much he has changed since birth.  He has definitely grown and gotten much stronger.  I think we are finally figuring out what some of his cries mean and how to fix them fast.  This is due mainly to starting a new schedule which is working out brilliantly so far.  Of course, we are on day 2, so time will tell if the Baby Whisperer really knows what she is talking about.  Yep, I read a book titled "The Baby Whisperer."  The good news is if her schedule ends up bombing I have about 5 other books with different theories to try out!  I am such a sucker for stuff like that!  Anyway, Max seems to be on a 2- 3 hour rotation of eat, play, sleep.  His awake time is much happier now that he is getting proper rest.

We started him sleeping in his crib on Feb. 10.  (One day ahead of schedule!)  It was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be.  Jarek said the day we came home from the hospital that we should have a goal of one month in our room and then on to his own bed.  I smiled and said sure, but what I was really thinking was I'll just deal with that issue later.  Then on Monday of this week I informed Jarek that there was no way he was leaving our room yet and we could discuss it again when it was time for me to go back to work.  Low and behold, after reading this book I changed my mind.

The first few naps we put him down for resulted in about three rounds of crying then falling asleep.  The first night I had to try twice to rock him and put him down.  Last night, after feeding I just put him down and that was it.  I just put him down for his first nap of the day when he was fully awake.  I laid him down and left the room.  He cried.  I picked him up and patted him until he stopped and laid him down again.  (That only took about 3 seconds).  I left again.  He cried again.  I walked in and patted his stomach and said, "Shhhh."  He quit and fell asleep.  Now I know I am probably crazy to think that life will always be like that, but I will take one easy nap any day!  But I am imagining life lasting like this for the rest of infancy just for fun!

Oops....

I never got around to posting about week 3!

Maybe that is because it was not such a fun week.

This picture pretty much says it all!!!!

Baby Fashion

When I was pregnant, I thought that it was a little sad I wasn't going to have a girl to dress up every day.  Come to find out the boy clothes are lots of fun, too!  I could care less what I am wearing.  I just want my baby to look handsome!  Thank goodness his grandparents are good at picking out cute clothes.  Otherwise, we would be starving but looking good doing it.

I love the socks that look like shoes.  Thanks, Nana!

Obviously the Baby Gap has genius clothing designers.  Thanks, Grandpa Dennis!
